Echo for iOS ยท Last updated 1 September 2026

Echo turns a spoken or typed thought into a post for X. This page describes exactly what it stores, where that data goes, and how to get rid of it. Echo is made by an independent developer, not a company.

The short version

What Echo stores

Your account and its contents live in a Supabase database controlled by the developer. Each row is readable only by the account that created it.

WhatWhy
Your Apple account identifier and email address To create and sign you into your account. If you used Apple's "Hide My Email", Echo only ever sees the relay address.
Drafts you write or dictate So they survive closing the app and reinstalling it.
Your settings: interests, "about you", special rules, formatting preferences To shape what Echo writes and what it asks you about.
Posts you published, and their public metrics from X To show your reach in the app, and to let later drafts learn from what worked.
Your X username, account id, and access tokens To post on your behalf. Tokens are held server-side and are never stored on your device.

Your daily reminder time and the list of prompts Echo has already asked you are kept locally on your device only, and are removed when you delete the app.

Where your data goes

Anthropic (Claude)

When you ask Echo to rewrite a thought or suggest what to write about, it sends the draft text, your interests, your "about you" text, your special rules, and recent posts to Anthropic's API to generate the result. Requests go through the developer's own server so that the API key is never in the app. Anthropic does not train its models on data sent through its API.

X (Twitter)

When you connect your X account, Echo receives an access token that lets it post as you and read your own post metrics. It requests no more than that. When you publish, the post text and any attached photo go to X and become subject to X's privacy policy. Anything you have already published stays on X, including after you delete your Echo account.

Apple

Sign in with Apple is handled by Apple. Echo receives an identifier and, if you allow it, an email address. Apple's speech models transcribe your dictation on-device.

Supabase

Supabase hosts the database and server functions described above, as the developer's processor.

Echo sends your data nowhere else. It is never sold, never shared for advertising, and never used to build a profile of you.

Microphone and photos

Echo asks for microphone and speech recognition access only to turn what you say into text, and it happens entirely on your device โ€” no recording is saved, and no audio leaves your iPhone. Echo asks for photo access only when you attach a photo to a post; that photo goes to X with the post and is not stored by Echo.

Deleting your account

Open Settings in the app and tap Delete account. This immediately and permanently removes your account, drafts, posts, settings, and X connection from the database. It cannot be undone, and the developer keeps no backup copy of a deleted account. Posts already published on X remain on X โ€” delete those from X itself.

Disconnecting X in Settings removes Echo's stored tokens for your X account. You can also revoke Echo's access at any time from your X connected apps settings.

Children

Echo is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
